What is the Fitness for Human Habitation Act?

As of March 20th, 2019, the FFHH (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 2018 has been implemented to guarantee that rented houses and flats meet the standard of being 'fit for human habitation,' ensuring they are safe and devoid of any potential harm to physical or mental well-being. While most landlords maintain their properties adequately, some neglect to do so, leaving tenants in substandard and unsafe living conditions. This new law empowers tenants, allowing them to take non-compliant landlords to court. The court can then enforce necessary repairs, address health and safety issues and award compensation to the tenants as required.
